Welcome to our reading

language arts website!
My name is Aimee Romano, and this is my first year teaching at St. Alphonsus. My husband Creed and I moved from Louisiana to Brookhaven in 2004. We have a 4-year-old son, Cameron,
who will be in PK-4 at St. Al’s this year. In 2000, I graduated from Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, Louisiana, with a degree in journalism and a minor in English. For the past nine years, I have worked as a journalist -- writing, editing, and designing for The News-Star in Monroe, La., The Clarion-Ledger in Jackson, and the Enterprise-Journal in McComb. I truly think that my professional experience gives me a unique perspective to offer in the classroom.
I have always felt drawn to teaching and have enjoyed teaching seventh- and eighth-grade catechism at St. Francis Catholic Church in Brookhaven for the past four years. Recently, I decided to enter the alternate route program for teacher certification to follow my dreams of becoming a teacher. I am also planning to pursue a master’s degree of education in the art of teaching at William Carey University in Hattiesburg.
The fastest way to get in touch with me is by e-mail, which I check daily. Please feel free to e-mail me. If you have any questions or concerns, don’t hesitate to come in at any time or send a note with your child. I am looking forward to a fantastic year.
