WELCOME!

TEACHER: Rhonda Chisholm

WELCOME!

Hi! Welcome to the 4th Grade webpage. My name is Rhonda Chisholm, and this is my second year teaching at St. Alphonsus. My husband, Larry, and I live in the Tangipahoa community of Amite County. We attend Tangipahoa Baptist Church, where I teach Sunday school, and my husband is a deacon. We both enjoy singing in the church choir. We have a total of eight children (his, mine, and ours), six of which live in the Pike County area. Our twins are in kindergarten at St. Al’s. We also have 4 grandchildren. My hobbies include raising and showing miniature horses, Paint horses, and Australian Cattle Dogs; needlepoint, ceramics, sewing, and painting.

I graduated from North Pike High School, and then earned my A.A. degree from Southwest Mississippi Community College. I graduated with Highest Honors and obtained my B.S. degree from the University of Southern Mississippi. While at Southern, I was inducted into Kappa Delta Pi and Golden Key honor societies and was listed on the National Dean’s List for academic achievement. I have teaching certifications in Elementary Education and Social Studies.

There are many things each year I get excited about, but teaching reading has got to be one of the most exciting things in teaching first grade. To see “those lights come on” when a child realizes that he/she can actually read words is an amazing thing to behold. I also get excited about the projects I assign. I love to see the variety and artistic elements in the children’s work. The year-end spelling bee is also very exciting, and I look forward to it.

I have found several internet links that fourth graders would like. One is enchantedlearning . This site can supplement just about any subject one could want. I have used it numerous times for projects and for additional practice sheets. Another good site is pbskids . It has lots of great educational activities. A good site for parents is abcteach.
For comments or questions, I can be reached by email.
