NEWS from St. Alphonsus Catholic School, August 26, 2008

NEW GATE ACCESS SYSTEM UP AND RUNNING!
     Our new gate security system is finished and protecting your most precious gifts –your children! Thank you for your patience while we worked out the kinks! Thanks also to the Catholic Mission Grant of the Jackson Diocese for our grant that funded this entire project.
     When you enter or exit a gate, make sure that you close it firmly back so it will latch!

School Holiday
     No school this Friday (Aug. 29) for
K-7 students. This is a K-7 teacher workday.
PRESCHOOL WILL BE OPEN!
     The entire school will be closed on Labor Day –Monday, Sept. 1.

Gifts and Talents Questionnaire
     Be sure that both parents / guardians complete this questionnaire and return it back to school on Wednesday. Students get a St. Al’s pencil and the class with the most questionnaires returned will get a nacho and cheese treat!
      This information is important for our School Advisory Council. If you are interested in being on a committee, please contact Mrs. Mabile at stalphonsus@bellsouth.net.

Preschool Parent Survey
     A survey should be in your child’s bag. Take a moment and answer the questions and send it back tomorrow. Thanks!

Collections
     We accept BoxTops, Nestle Pure Life Water Bottle Labels, Campbell’s Soup Labels, anything! Collect these and more and send them to us!

Hurricanes/ Bad Weather
     Remember in the event of a hurricane or other bad weather we may need to cancel school. Our best way of communicating with you about school closures or early dismissal are through the SchoolReach calling program we have. Make sure we have your correct home number and cell number and email address.
     You can send these updates to Mrs. Mary Roberts.
     You can also listen to the radio. Usually, if the McComb School District is closed, we are too.

Snacks
     The snack cabinet is once again open. Parents, you can send money in an envelope marked with your child’s name and grade. Send the money in $5 increments. Snacks are 50 cents each with a limit of 2 snacks per day.

Ties and Belts
     The office has extra ties and belts for sale. We are charging $1 extra to carry these in the office. Costs are: ties $ 10 and belts are $13. If you child needs one, tell them to come to the office and get it. We will send you an invoice. We will be getting some knee socks later.
