THE ST. AL'S HOUSE SYSTEM

      Similar to house systems at Harvard, Yale, and Harry Potter, our houses are named for the virtues. These clubs include the House of Peace, House of Hope, House of Love, House of Faith, House of Kindness, and House of Patience. Each elementary student from K-7th grade are assigned to a house and each house includes students from every grade.
      Once a student is placed in a house, he will remain a member throughout his entire academic career at St. Al's. Along with becoming a "lifelong" member of a particular house, middle school students are paired with elementary children and mentor them as Big Brothers/Big Sisters.
      These clubs were developed with such goals in mind as increasing student participation, encouraging exemplary student behavior in the classrooms, strengthening relationships among students/teachers, and providing community outreach opporunities.
      For the 2008-09 school year, the House of Kindness will be sponsored by Tim Roberts and Konya Munson. Peace will be led by JulieAnna Smith and Angele Miles. Hope's sponsors are Rhonda Chisholm and Sandra Felder. Teresa Howell and Windy Chauvin will lead the House of Love. Faith will be led by Cassundra Anders and Tara Maurer. Leadership for the House of Patience will include Amy Holmes and Linda Alford.
      Along with character development activities, students at St. Al's can look forward to friendly competition during our weekly meetings on Friday afternooons. During this time, the houses will compete for the coveted "House of the Month" golden cup. Last years' events included a limbo contest, hula-hoop relays, and sack races. What a great way to start your weekend!!
